As a geek, I find that anything that can automate my life can make my everyday life easier. And I love that.
- I bought a Keurig Coffee Maker to automatically make my coffee without having to think about it.
- I invested in Kickstarter programs that will further the creation of automation.
- I read and educate myself on the products available that will further this.
If you are like me and want to be able to use your phone or voice to automate your home then you must check out these kickstarter projects.
SmartThings
SmartThings makes it easy to connect the things in your physical world to the Internet. You can monitor, control, automate, and have fun with them from anywhere – at home, office, or on the go.
We’ve made it possible to install apps that interact with your SmartThings, as well as online and other services. This unlocks a world of possibilities and and unlimited potential to make your life easier, more convenient and fun.
We call these SmartApps.
Ubi
Ubi is a voice-activated computer that plugs into a wall outlet. You talk to the Ubi and it talks back. It directly connects to the Internet through wifi.
We believe people want to do things when they’re at home – they clean, they fold laundry, they cook, they eat, they spend time with loved ones. These are all things that (for the most part) take up use of our arms and hands. When we’re at home, we’d rather use our limbs for other activities than typing, scrolling, or swiping.
Instacube
We use it. Obsessively. Instagram represents a whole new way of sharing and viewing photos. It’s a unique experience that puts photo-sharing front-and-center, and Instagram does it better than anyone else. And now you can have it in your home!
I love this concept of being able to talk to my house and get something done! Think Star Trek’s “COMPUTER.” I hope this is just the beginning of innovation when it comes to home automation. I can’t wait to see what lies in the future ahead.
